"We believe that the evil that Russia is doing today is a consequence of the lack of condemnation of the evil that it has done in the past." This slogan unites more than 20 organizations that are part of the global initiative T4P - Tribunal for Putin.
Recently, the NGO «Association of Relatives of Political Prisoners of the Kremlin» also joined T4P. This is a very important step, because since 2022, our experts have been constantly documenting war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Zaporizhzhia region. And we strive to have as many influence and advocacy mechanisms as possible, in particular, at the international level, so that criminals are punished.
T4R seeks to use the existing mechanisms of the UN, the Council of Europe, the OSCE, the EU and the International Criminal Court to prevent these brutal crimes and bring the perpetrators to justice. Also cooperates with national investigative bodies.
The Putin Tribunal initiative was created in response to Russia's full-scale aggression against Ukraine in February 2022. Its participants document events that have signs of crimes under the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes) in all regions of Ukraine.
The founders of the Initiative are the Kharkiv Human Rights Group, the Ukrainian Helsinki Union for Human Rights and the Center for Civil Liberties.
The uniqueness of the T4P approach lies in the fact that documentation takes place on a regional basis: different organizations are assigned regions where these organizations have worked for years and understand geographic and other local features. In some parts of Ukraine, T4P has collected more data on war crimes than the Ukrainian government or international organizations have.
