Teimur’s lawyer, Edem Semedliaiev, attributes this to the visit of the special services, who came to the prisoner and tried to persuade him to cooperate after transferring from SIZO in Rostov-on-Don.“The administration of the colony refuses all complaints, all requests to revise this practice, referring to some trumped-up violations,” commented the lawyer.
The administration of the colony motivates such an attitude towards Teimur Abdullaiev by the fact that he is a “persistent violator”. In between the regular terms of stay in SHIZO, the Crimean Tatar is transferred to SCD (cell with strict conditions of detention), and after that he again is placed in a punishment cell.
“The most interesting thing is that the staff informs about extension of hid detention in SHIZO in advance. He counts the number of days spent in SHIZO and it is already more than 750 days,” said Teimur's wife, Alime Abdullaieva, whom he called in March.
Due to regular stay in a punishment cell, Teimur Abdullaiev began to experience health problems. At the request of his mother, Diliara Abdullaieva, another lawyer visited Teimur in April this year. At the time of the meeting with him, the political prisoner was sick and was held in a punishment cell having fever.
As a reminder, siblings Uzeir and Teimur Abdullaiev were arrested in October 2016 together with three other Crimean Tatars for involvement in the activities of the Islamic political party Hizb ut-Tahrir, which has been forbidden in Russia since 2003. In June 2019, the Southern District Military Court of Rostov-on-Don sentenced Uzeir Abdullaiev to 12 years and 6 months in prison, and Teimur – after reviewing the sentence – to 16 years and 6 months in prison.
