We went to Zaporizhzhia to find witnesses of war crimes and document their testimony, as well as conduct an educational campaign on social and legal protection of people who survived captivity and their families. Specialists in documenting war crimes, legal and communication directions took part in the mission.
We visited IDP assistance centers, charitable foundations, shelters and hubs where people who were forced to leave their homes after the occupation receive assistance or temporarily reside. We also visited the places of stay of people with experience of captivity or relatives of such victims of abuse.
Most of the residents of Zaporizhzhia region who survived captivity or their relatives are unaware of their rights and the possibility to receive state aid. Therefore, we held a series of informational and educational meetings with the coordinators of centers for displaced persons, recipients of assistance, representatives of local authorities and lawyers, who will now be able to provide professional advice on social and legal support to survivors of captivity. We also interviewed victims and witnesses of war crimes and documented their testimonies.
