Osman Arifmemetov was born on August 28, 1985 in Tashkent region of Uzbekystan. In 1990, he moved to Crimea with his family to the city of Bakhchysarai. In 2007, he graduated from Taurida National University with a degree in mathematics and was qualified as a mathematician, teacher of mathematics and computer science. In 2011-2015, he worked as a programmer and maths tutor, preparing children for exams and teaching them programming.
In 2015, he became a citizen journalist and activist of “Crimean Solidarity”. He covered searches and trials, helped organize parcels to SIZO for unjustly convicted Crimean Tatars. Osman Arifmemetov and his wife Aliie have two children. Osman is one of the first citizen journalists in Crimea. In 2019, he was broadcasting live running behind a tinted minibus of the special services. In this car, the security forces were taking Bilial Adilov, a father of eight children, who was abducted right from under the court building. In October 2017, Osman was filming the consequences of a search in the house of Timur Ibrahimov, where a ten-day-old child was staying at the time: representatives of the russian special services turned everything upside down in search of religious literature.
On March 27, 2019, Osman's house was searched. The next day, the court ordered to keep him in custody. Arifmemetov faces up to 20 years in prison.
